Student with certificate

The Iosco RESA Career and Technical Education Center would like to take this opportunity to recognize Ava Briggs as “Professional Student of the Month” for February 2025. Ava is the daughter of Tricia and Justin Briggs.  She is a junior at Tawas Area High School.

“This is the third time this year that I have nominated Ms. Ava for Student of the Month because she is INCREDIBLE!  Ms. Ava has worked in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade Host Classrooms.  Everywhere she goes, she SMILES and jumps right in.  Consistently her Host Teachers share with me that Ms. Ava has a unique ability (for her age) to read the room and assist where needed.  I have witnessed her working one on one with kids - even helping them change into their Halloween costumes!  Just this week I saw her leading a 4th grade Reading Group - I know that this is a HUGE help to her Host Teacher.

The ENTIRE SCHOOL depends on Ms. Ava every Thursday because she is responsible for distributing all of the AR Reading prizes on the AR Cart.  She and another Cadet visit every single classroom, call out the names of students, and cheer them on as they select prizes.  Ava is, by far, the best Cadet I’ve ever had hold this position!

When we are together in class, Ms. Ava exudes POSITIVITY and ENTHUSIASM!  She’s someone who encourages her classmates.  We just love her!”

To be nominated for “Professional Student of the Month”, a student must have outstanding work ethics, no absences or tardies for the month, no discipline issues and at least a B grade point average. Iosco RESA Tech Center offers the following programs for 11th and 12th grade students: Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Business Management, Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management, Health Science, Teacher Prep Academy, and Welding & Fabrication.
