Teacher Cadets enjoyed a fascinating day on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University where they attended the LIFT Conference for future teachers. There were 500 Cadets in attendance! Each Cadet was able to choose break-out sessions to attend. Highlights of the trip included:
Read-Aloud Competition Participants: Josi Kellstrom, Olivia Wight-McMurray, & Ava Briggs. Each of these incredible young ladies read a children's book in front of a panel of college student judges! They did an amazing job!
Ethical Dilemma Competition Participants: Addison Street, Julia May, Vada Majava, & Alyssa Burr. This group was given a surprise scenario - an ethical dilemma which could actually occur in a school setting. They had 45 minutes to discuss possible solutions, hear each other out, map out directions, and present a solution to a panel of college student judges. It was a high-pressure event, and our Cadets EXCELLED!
Cadets enjoyed a lunch on campus and a tour given by a past IRESA Cadet graduate, Kylie Sizemore!
Being on college campuses is an exciting part of being a Teacher Cadet. We 'try on' colleges and universities to see exactly where our students will fit. Afterwards we fill out college applications and pursue scholarship opportunities together in class.
